Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, former Governor of Osun State and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has condemned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for mismanaging Nigeria, declaring the ADC as the only credible alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the official launch of the ADC Secretariat in Ilorin, Kwara State, Aregbesola accused the APC government of incompetence, greed, and poor leadership that have led to widespread hunger, insecurity, and infrastructure decline.

“Under this administration, hunger dominates, governance is about personal gain and political intimidation. Nigerians are suffering because the APC has failed at every level,” he said.

He further alleged that the APC suppresses opposition voices by using state power to silence dissent. “If the APC were confident, it wouldn’t be persecuting opposition members across the country,” Aregbesola added.

He described the ADC as a “party of conscience and service,” expressing hope that rising public dissatisfaction would translate into electoral success in 2027.

“Nigerians’ dislike for the ruling party is clear, and the ADC will be the party to capitalize on that,” he stated.

Also present, former Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed welcomed the ADC’s emergence as a “new dawn” in the state’s politics, highlighting the party’s alignment with the aspirations of Kwarans.

ADC National Publicity Secretary and former Minister of Youth and Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, dismissed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a “dead party awaiting obituary,” insisting that only the ADC presents a viable opposition to the APC.

“The question is no longer whether Kwarans want the APC; they don’t. Now, we must convince them that ADC is the only alternative, and that is our goal for the upcoming elections,” Abdullahi said.

He also expressed concern about rising insecurity in Kwara’s rural areas, which has disrupted farming and livelihoods. “Our people can no longer farm safely. The government must do more to restore peace and protect lives,” he urged.
