The long-running feud between French football star Kylian Mbappe and his former club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is heading to court once again, as both parties prepare to face off before the Paris Labor Court on November 17, 2025.

According to RMC Sport, the case revolves around €55 million in unpaid wages, bonuses, and other entitlements that Mbappe claims are still owed from his final months at PSG. The Real Madrid forward is also seeking to have his previous contract reclassified from a fixed-term to a permanent one, a move that could strengthen his case and potentially set a new legal precedent in football employment law.

The courtroom showdown marks the latest chapter in a turbulent relationship that began deteriorating in 2023. During his final season at PSG, Mbappe accused the club of moral harassment and attempted extortion, claiming he was deliberately isolated and made to train separately after refusing to extend his contract. He was placed in what became known as PSG’s “loft group”, a section for players deemed surplus to requirements.

Although the Frenchman later withdrew the harassment complaint earlier this year reportedly to ease tensions ahead of PSG’s Club World Cup clash with Madrid, he maintained his financial claims through the labor court system. His legal team insists that Mbappe is not seeking damages, but only the funds contractually owed to him.

Despite the bitterness surrounding his exit, Mbappe has emphasized that his dispute is strictly with PSG’s management, not the fans or his former teammates.

If the court sides with Mbappe and reclassifies his deal as a permanent contract, it could have serious implications for clubs that rely heavily on fixed-term player agreements. The verdict might open the door for other players to challenge similar contracts.

PSG, already under pressure for Financial Fair Play compliance and its ballooning wage bill, insists that all dues were paid according to Mbappe’s contract. Still, the optics of a legal fight with their former captain — now a Real Madrid superstar — come at a sensitive time for the club, which is trying to rebuild under Luis Enrique after finally capturing the Champions League title last season.

Off the pitch, the legal wrangling continues, but on it, Mbappe has shown no signs of distraction. The 26-year-old enjoyed a spectacular 2024–25 season, netting 31 goals in 34 La Liga games to claim the European Golden Boot, finishing ahead of Arsenal’s Viktor Gyökeres and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Although PSG’s Champions League triumph overshadowed his individual success, Mbappe has started the new campaign in blistering form with 18 goals in 15 appearances for Real Madrid so far. Despite failing to score in Madrid’s recent 1–0 loss to Liverpool, he remains central to Xabi Alonso’s high-flying side, who currently lead La Liga by five points.

As Mbappe prepares for Madrid’s upcoming clash against Rayo Vallecano, his focus will be split between chasing goals on the field and fighting for millions in court.
