The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled November 20, 2025, for judgment in the terrorism case involving the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Justice James Omotosho fixed the date on Friday after Kanu failed to open his defence, despite having been granted six days by the court to present his case.
In his ruling, Justice Omotosho stated that Kanu could not claim to have been denied his constitutional right to a fair hearing, as he had been given adequate time and opportunity to defend himself.
Meanwhile, Kanu filed a motion challenging the legality of his trial, arguing that terrorism is no longer an offence in Nigeria. He claimed that the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act had been repealed, rendering the charges against him invalid.
Kanu insisted there was no valid case against him and urged the court to dismiss the charges and order his release.
