The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party has disowned a leaked report purportedly issued by its reconciliation committee, insisting the document was neither discussed nor adopted by the board.

The report, signed by a six-member panel inaugurated last week to mediate between the party’s two factions ahead of the national elective convention in Ibadan, advised the PDP to suspend the convention and set up a caretaker committee. Its leak on Friday reportedly embarrassed the Adolphus Wabara-led BoT.

In a statement on Saturday, Wabara clarified that while the document originated from the committee, it does not reflect the BoT’s official position.

“The Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party categorically dissociates and distances itself from the purported report… The content of the said report is not and does not represent the official position of the Board,” the statement read.

Wabara reaffirmed the BoT’s support for the national convention scheduled for November 15–16, stressing that the party remains committed to electing new leaders for a four-year term. He added that this stance aligns with a Supreme Court judgment reaffirming a political party’s right to manage its internal affairs.

The BoT also dismissed suggestions to constitute a caretaker committee, insisting the courts have no jurisdiction over the party’s internal decision to hold an elective convention.

It urged members to stay focused on ensuring a successful convention.
