Former deputy governor in Osun State, Mr Benedict Olugboyega Alabi has stated that if the party has a free and fair, he is the candidate to beat.

Alabi said this on Monday when he appeared at the National Secretariat of the APC to submit his nomination form in line with the guidelines of the party.

He said his ambition was born out of his decade-long spirit of service to the state.

Addressing the journalists shortly after submitting his forms, the Ikire-born politician said his experience as a former deputy governor and his grassroots knowledge of Osun will help him secure the ticket.

He said his mission is to build a state that works for everyone.

Alabi said, “This declaration is a sacred covenant I promise to make with the people of Osun. I promise to deploy my experience, my passion and my faith to serve the people of the state with the singular mission of building a state that works for everyone.

“We have competent hands across the state and I was to assure everyone that regardless of prior group affiliation or interest or zone, everyone will have a seat on the table where critical decisions will be made”, he said.

Speaking on his relationship with his former boss, Gboyega Oyetola, Alabi said he has the nod of the minister of Marine and Blue Economy to join the race, revealing that he waited for former Governor to decide on his intention.

“If you notice I declared last. I was waiting to hear from my former boss to know whether he will contest or not. I spoke with him after he announced that he would not be contesting and he gave me go ahead.”

Alabi also dispelled reumour of a concensus arrangement and endorsement of an aspirant by the Igbimo Agba, stating that he’s a member of the caucus and no one has been ratified by the group.
