The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Mr Bosun Tijani, has revealed the reasons behind recent poor network, drop calls and other issues faced by telecommunication users in the country.
The minister gave the clarification when he appeared as a guest on Friday’s edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today show.
According to Tijani, the company that supplies the telecommunication companies with diesel had issues with the companies and started locking up their stations, it affected service.
He stated that, apart from the tussle, the country has not upgraded its communication and digital infrastructure in the past ten years, and during the ten years, the users of the current infrastructure have increased by seven times.
Tijani, therefore, called for massive investment in the telecommunications sector.
He further added that, when in January tariffs went a bit higher, the telecommunication companies were able to invest in equipment worth one billion naira.
