Manchester United have confirmed that Brazilian midfielder Casemiro will leave the club at the end of the current season when his contract expires.
Casemiro joined the Red Devils from Spanish giants Real Madrid in 2022 in a deal worth £70 million. Since then, he has made 146 appearances for the club, scoring 21 goals and playing a key role during a transitional period at Old Trafford.
Reacting to the announcement, United paid tribute to the 33-year-old, describing him as a “serial winner” and thanking him for his impact in the famous red shirt. The club added that both parties are determined to end the season on a positive note.
Casemiro also shared an emotional message, saying Manchester United would remain a permanent part of his life. He recalled his first experience at Old Trafford, describing the passion of the stadium and the bond he built with the club’s supporters as unforgettable.
“This is not goodbye yet,” the midfielder said, stressing that he remains fully focused on creating more memories in his final months at the club.
Before arriving in England, Casemiro enjoyed a glittering career at Real Madrid, where he won five UEFA Champions League titles and established himself as one of the world’s top defensive midfielders.
During his time at United, he famously scored the opening goal in the club’s League Cup final victory over Newcastle in 2023, helping the team finish third in the Premier League that season.
However, he was absent from the FA Cup final win against Manchester City the following year.
One of the club’s highest-paid players, Casemiro later took to Instagram to reaffirm his loyalty, saying he would always consider himself a Red Devil and promising to give everything for the badge in his remaining months.
Manchester United currently sit fifth in the Premier League and will face league leaders Arsenal in their next fixture.
