Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, son of the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has resigned his position as the Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development.
Kwankwaso announced his resignation on Monday through a statement shared on his official Facebook page, confirming his exit from the Kano State Executive Council.
In the statement, he expressed appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for giving him the opportunity to serve in the administration, describing the decision to step down as a difficult one.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation as Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and member of the Kano State Executive Council,” he said.
The former commissioner noted that his time in office was filled with valuable experiences and lessons, adding that he was grateful for the confidence reposed in him by the governor and the people of the state.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the opportunity to serve the great people of Kano State. I have cherished the experiences and lessons gained while serving, and I sincerely appreciate the trust placed in me,” he stated.
Kwankwaso also called for sustained attention to youth empowerment and sports development in Kano, expressing hope that ongoing programmes and initiatives in the sector would continue to thrive under the current administration.
“As I resign, I pray that the youth of Kano State will continue to receive the attention and support they deserve. I am confident that our sports development programmes will flourish in the years ahead,” he added.
He concluded by offering prayers for Kano State and its leadership, wishing the government and residents continued progress and stability.
The resignation comes amid ongoing political realignments within the Kano State Government following Governor Yusuf’s recent departure from the NNPP.
