Police officers on Wednesday fired tear gas to disperse residents protesting alleged evictions and demolitions across parts of Lagos State.
The protesters had converged on the Lagos State House of Assembly complex in Ikeja to demand government intervention when security operatives moved in to break up the gathering.
Eyewitnesses reported that the protest was ongoing when officers began deploying tear gas, forcing demonstrators to flee the area. The protest is linked to recent demolition exercises carried out in different communities within the state.
