Popular socialite and nightlife entrepreneur, Pascal Okechukwu better known as Cubana Chief Priest has announced his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.

The celebrity businessman made the declaration via his Instagram page, revealing that he will run on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a decision he described as deliberate and politically strategic.

According to Cubana Chief Priest, aligning with the ruling party is the most effective way to influence federal decisions, particularly on issues affecting the South-East, including the continued detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

He explained that remaining in opposition limits one’s ability to make meaningful impact at the national level.

“I no fit help Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from opposition. I have always been an APC,” he said.

He also pointed to his long-standing ties to the party and to Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, whom he described as a political father figure.

“My father, Governor Hope, has worked hard on APC for me not to support him as DG Renewed Hope,” he added.

Addressing questions about his political stance during the 2023 general elections when he publicly backed Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Cubana Chief Priest clarified that his involvement in the Obidient movement was tied to his role at the time as a Special Adviser to Governor Uzodimma.

He stressed that his political alignment has since shifted firmly back to the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Last election, as special adviser to Governor Hope, I worked for Peter Obi, but this time I dey with Asiwaju,” he said.

The socialite described his 2027 ambition as a move from online influence to direct political engagement, insisting that the South-East needs younger, influential voices working from within government to effectively negotiate and advance the region’s interests at the federal level.
