Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has said that the reforms introduced by his administration over the last two and a half years are already yielding results, creating a friendly environment for both local and foreign investments in the state.
The governor noted that the impact of these reforms has earned Kaduna national recognition, with the state ranking second in the 2025 Subnational Ease of Doing Business Report released by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council.
Uba Sani made the remarks on Thursday at the groundbreaking ceremony of Kaima Smart City in Pmape, a community in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, which shares a boundary with the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to him, the state is building on a foundation of peace and institutional reforms and is now witnessing tangible investment outcomes across key sectors of the economy.
He highlighted the housing sector as a major beneficiary, citing projects such as the Qatar Sanabil Housing Project and the Renewed Hope Housing Programme, which he said are delivering thousands of affordable homes, social infrastructure, and employment opportunities, especially for vulnerable and displaced persons.
The governor further explained that renewed investor confidence is also driving growth in mining, agriculture, manufacturing, and industrial development, leveraging Kaduna’s rich mineral resources and strategic location.
“These investments confirm a simple truth: stability and sound policies are translating into real assets, real livelihoods, and sustainable economic growth for our people,” Uba Sani said.
Describing Kaima Smart City as a flagship urban development project, the governor said it was deliberately designed to set new standards for modern cities in Nigeria and across Sub-Saharan Africa.
He noted that the city’s proximity to Abuja positions it as a key economic and cultural gateway, adding that the project is expected to attract investments exceeding $700 million.
“This reflects growing confidence in Kaduna State as a place where vision meets opportunity and where long-term value is carefully nurtured,” he added.
Uba Sani explained that the smart city project is a response to the challenges of rapid urbanization, including pressure on infrastructure, rising inequality, and environmental concerns.
He assured that Kaima Smart City would adopt sustainable planning and resilient infrastructure to create an inclusive, efficient, and future-ready urban ecosystem that meets present needs while protecting the interests of future generations.
The governor expressed optimism that, upon completion, Kaima Smart City would emerge as a vibrant hub for business, culture, leisure, and innovation, delivering widespread benefits such as job creation, expanded economic opportunities for host communities, increased Internally Generated Revenue, and positioning Kaduna as a major tourism destination in Africa.
