The Nigerian Army disclosed that the convoy of Major General Bemgha Koughna was attacked by terrorists near Mayama Hill in Maiyama Local Government Area. Troops under Operation Fansan Yamma reportedly fought back, killing five attackers and recovering weapons, including PKT and AK-47 rifles, ammunition, motorcycles, communication gadgets and ₦840,000 in cash.
The development has heightened concerns over the activities of the Lakurawa group and persistent attacks on rural communities, particularly in forested border areas of the state.

Sufiyanu said, “While we commend the gallantry and professionalism of the troops who repelled the attack, this incident raises fundamental questions that must not be ignored.
