No fewer than 15 players have reported to the Super Eagles camp in Antalya, Turkey, as preparations begin for upcoming international friendlies.
Among the early arrivals are Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, Fisayo Bashiru, Yira Sor, Paul Onuachu, and Philip Otele. Others already in camp include Semi Ajayi, Moses Simon, Francis Uzoho, Bruno Onyemaechi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Adebayo Adeleye, Samuel Chukwueze, and Maduka Okoye.
The team is currently lodged at the Bellis Deluxe Hotel, where their first training session is scheduled for Wednesday at 4 p.m. local time (2 p.m. Nigerian time).
According to the News gathered by Insightlinks, the camp officially opened on Tuesday afternoon with the arrival of the coaching crew and team officials.
Super Eagles Media Officer, Promise Efoghe, expressed satisfaction with the early turnout, describing it as a positive sign of the players’ commitment.
“We are encouraged by the level of dedication shown so far. Having 15 players in camp on the first day is a strong start,” he said.
Efoghe added that the technical team is focused on making the most of the training sessions to build cohesion ahead of the matches against Iran national football team and Jordan national football team.
He also assured that the remaining invited players are expected to join the squad soon, giving the coaching staff enough time to fully implement their plans.
Head coach Eric Chelle had earlier named a 23-man squad for the friendlies, including captain Wilfred Ndidi, Iwobi, and Ademola Lookman.
Originally scheduled to take place in Amman, the fixtures were moved to Antalya due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
Nigeria will face Iran on March 27 before taking on Jordan on March 31, as the team intensifies preparations for future competitions.
