Popular Nollywood actor Akin Olaiya has announced the end of his marriage to his second wife, Nafisat Hammed, less than one year after the couple tied the knot.
Olaiya made the disclosure in a public statement, confirming that the relationship had officially come to an end following unsuccessful efforts to resolve issues that emerged shortly after their wedding.
The actor and Nafisat, who is of Hausa background, got married on June 29, 2025, in Ibadan in a ceremony that drew attention from fans, colleagues, and members of the entertainment industry.
Explaining what led to the breakdown of the union, Olaiya said challenges began to surface only a few months into the marriage.
According to him, the couple had planned to attend an event together in Lagos, but shortly before the trip, his wife informed him that she was no longer interested in going.
Olaiya said he attended the event alone but returned home to discover that Nafisat had packed her belongings and left the matrimonial home without informing him beforehand.
The actor stated that following her departure, he made several attempts to reconnect with her and sought intervention from members of her family in a bid to resolve the situation and save the marriage.
However, he said all reconciliation efforts were unsuccessful.
In the statement titled Letter of Marriage Dissolution, Olaiya said his wife repeatedly maintained that she no longer wished to continue with the relationship.
Based on her decision and continued refusal to return, the actor declared that he now considers the marriage dissolved from his side.
The development has generated reactions among fans and followers, especially as the marriage lasted less than a year after it was publicly celebrated.
