Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reviewed the outcome of the party’s recent primary elections and agreed to hold further consultations with the party’s National Chairman, Nentanwe Yilwatda, and other key stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was reached during a meeting of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF), which ended in the early hours of Tuesday in Abuja.
Chairman of the forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, disclosed this while briefing journalists after the meeting.
The PGF is made up of serving governors elected under the APC platform.
According to Uzodimma, discussions at the meeting focused on evaluating the outcomes of the party’s primary elections across the country, reviewing the recent governorship election in Ekiti State, and assessing the party’s performance in recent by-elections.
He said the governors also reflected on broader national concerns and agreed to intensify efforts aimed at improving governance and addressing challenges affecting Nigerians.
Uzodimma noted that the governors resolved to engage the party’s leadership in strategic consultations as preparations gradually begin for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
He added that the forum remains committed to supporting and strengthening the APC’s internal structures in order to position the party effectively for future electoral contests.
The meeting was attended by governors from several states, including Ekiti, Zamfara, Taraba, Lagos, Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, Gombe, Kebbi, Akwa Ibom and Borno, among others.
The latest gathering signals growing political activity within the ruling party as consultations continue ahead of the next electoral cycle.
