Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Friday intensified his re-election campaign as his train moved round communities in Egbedore Local Government Area while also inaugurating key road projects, held engagement with traditional rulers and party members ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The governor began his visit by commissioning the newly completed Dada Estate Road with its spur and the Ajetunmobi–Oke Ibunkun Street, including the spur leading to Aje Market in Ido-Osun. He said the projects reflected his administration’s commitment to improving road infrastructure, easing transportation and boosting economic activities across the state.
Adeleke later met with traditional rulers from Egbedore Local Government at the Awo Civic Centre, where the monarchs commended his administration for what they described as impactful developmental projects and people-oriented policies.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Olojudo of Ido-Osun, Oba Olayinka Ishola Jokotola II, appreciated the governor for enrolling traditional rulers in the state’s health insurance scheme, describing the initiative as a significant step towards improving their welfare.
Also speaking, the Alara of Ara, Oba Olubayo Adesola Windapo, lauded Adeleke for his continued support for traditional institutions, saying the governor had performed creditably in office and deserved another term.
“He has done well for the people of Osun State. We pray that God grants him victory in his re-election bid,” the monarch said.
The Alawo of Awo, Oba Abdulrasaq Taiwo Adegboye, also praised the governor’s performance, noting that his administration had recorded notable achievements in road construction, education, healthcare and infrastructure development.
According to the monarch, the impact of the governor’s projects is evident across communities in Egbedore Local Government.
Responding, Adeleke thanked the royal fathers for their support and cooperation since he assumed office, assuring them that his administration remained committed to delivering more dividends of democracy.
“I have fulfilled the promises I made to the people during my first term, and I am ready to consolidate on these achievements if given another opportunity to serve,” the governor said.
At the campaign rally held at the Alawo Grammar School playing ground in Awo, Adeleke urged Accord Party members and supporters not to be intimidated but to remain focused on the task ahead.
He described women and youths as the deciding force in elections and charged Accord Party faithful to embark on door-to-door mobilisation across their communities.
“The power of election belongs to women and the youth. Let everyone go from house to house to canvass for votes, and we must all be prepared to protect our votes on election day,” he said.
Also addressing supporters, the Director-General of the Imole Campaign Council, Senator Lere Oyewumi, urged women and youth canvassers across all polling units to intensify voter mobilisation and educate residents on how to identify the Accord Party logo on the ballot paper ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The visit formed part of Governor Adeleke’s statewide mobilisation tour under the Accord Party as political activities gather momentum ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election. The governor and party leaders urged supporters to sustain grassroots mobilisation, promote issue-based campaigns and work together to ensure victory for the Accord Party at the polls.
