The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old boy, Usman Dauda, over the alleged defilement of a three-year-old girl in Saki.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
According to Ayanlade, the incident was reported at the Saki Divisional Police Station on September 17, 2026, at about 6pm, after the child was declared missing on her way back from school.
He said a search party later found the child by the roadside in distress, with preliminary findings indicating that the suspect allegedly took her into his apartment.
“Detectives immediately visited and secured the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspect and recovery of critical physical evidence linked to the offence,” the PPRO said.
He added that the survivor was rushed to a medical facility in Saki where she is receiving treatment.
Ayanlade said the case has been transferred to the Gender Desk at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, Ibadan, for further investigation and prosecution, in line with the Child Rights Act.
He said the identity and privacy of the survivor and her family remain protected.
The Command reiterated its zero-tolerance for child abuse and gender-based violence and urged residents to promptly report cases of abuse against children and vulnerable persons to the nearest police station.
