Several residents of the Ijetu area of Osogbo have been displaced following severe flooding caused by persistent rainfall.
The floodwaters reportedly submerged homes, destroyed household belongings and left affected families stranded with limited access to shelter and other basic necessities.
Residents say the situation has worsened as the continuous rainfall increases the extent of the flooding.
They are calling on the Osun State Government, Osogbo Local Government, the State Emergency Management Agency and other relevant authorities to provide urgent relief, temporary shelter and assess the damage.
Residents also want authorities to address the underlying drainage and flood-control challenges in the area to prevent a recurrence.
