A reckless driver has terminated lives of two Police Machine players Saturday Glory and Ani Ekong on Tuesday, October 1.
Saturday Glory and Ani Ekong were said to have been killed by a hit and run driver in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state after their evening training. Police Machine are preparing for the Nigeria Women Professional League relegation playoffs slated for Lokoja in Kogi state before this heartbreaking incident.
It was gathered the unknown driver also left four other players of Police Machine injured and they are currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Uyo.
Chairperson of the Nigerian Women Football League, Mrs Aisha Falode has expressed shock and sadness over the demise of Saturday Glory and Ani Ekong.
Her statement reads, ”It is with great sadness that we received the news of the death of two young players of Police Machine and we are devastated at this tragic passing of Saturday Glory and Aniebet Ekong.
”The thoughts of everyone at the NWFL are with the families of the deceased, their friends, teammates, the management and everyone connected to the club at this difficult time,”.
