Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Lasun Yusuff and six other distinguished sons and daughters of the ancient town of Ilobu are to be honoured by the Ilobu National Students Union on Saturday, October 5.
Others who are to be recognized for their ‘excellent performance, diligence and dedication towards the development of the town’ in the second edition of Heroes Week are the Secretary, Procurement Estate and Works, National Assembly, Arc Tunde Ojo, Pioneer Coordinator of INSU, Alh Isiaq Oyewol Awotunde and Abuja-based business woman, Mrs Fatimat Olabisi Muibi
Others are; Managing Director, Holam Ventures, Otunba Ilyas Lere Adeyemi and Alh Raheem Kolapo Sanusi.
Speaking with Insight Media, the National President of the union, Comrade Ridwan Alayande stated that the motive behind the award is to appreciate the selected leaders who have distinguished themselves in areas of human development and contributed immensely to the development of Ilobu.
He said the whole programme encompassed in the week-long schedule were aimed at celebrating the heroes and to also encourage upcoming ones to take cue from their outstanding service to the community.
Alayande thereby invited the general public to the event slated for Saturday inside the Ilobu house premises.
The president added that Dr Gafar Afolabi of Federal College of Education Special, Oyo will deliver a short lecture on the roles played by Ilobu sons and daughters to the socio-economic development of Nigeria.
