Our ineptitude to propagate our own in green lights is one of the many evils that are webbing our region from experiencing a radical progression. Great men and women amass in the city of Esit Eket, but only a few balanced stories are told about their amazing deeds.

This article remains an intentional frontier in the promotion of the good works of Esit Eket leaders. My last report had attempted an iceberg adumbration of untold stories about Hon. Iniobong Robson’s outlandish generosity towards his people.

Affirmations on Etebe’s generosity from my readers and phone callers were a clear index to further embolden the truism of that piece of work. And seriously, I gain a better feeling to know that a greater number of persons than I had ever imagined are indeed impacted by Etebe Financial Support Scheme (EFSS). My sole prayer is a greater strength to continuously promote Etebe’s glad tidings.

#2.0 Etebe Supplementary Education Project (ESEP)#

It is not a common narrative in our terrain that an elected leader, having known the deep-rooted benefits of qualitative education have pushed same to his people other than his immediate family circle.

Sincerely, I must admit that I lack a suitable adjective to vividly describe Hon. Iniobong Robson’s burning passion and commitment to render a qualitative supplementary education for the pupils and students of Esit Eket.

His yearn for quality education for the pupils and students of Esit Eket retains a deep long history, tied to his higher school days where teachers, lecturers, and exams conditions alike were enwrapped in a strict and uncompromising atmosphere. This rigorous academic situation, he believes is what left a hyper qualitative academic ember in his life and that of his fellows back then in the years.

At present, I can say on good authority that there exists a fierce pain in Mr. Chairman’s bones as he perpetually witnesses a churning out of poor pathetic academic buffoons as a result of an outrageous academic situation in the locale he governs.

This is heartbreaking, but we cannot be sorry for ourselves for too long without a germane effort to redirect this educational downslope away from the region.

From the outset, his entire heart cry has been to rewrite the poor condition of education in Esit Eket, and now, a timely remedy to resuscitate the educational system of the region which has been on life support is here and it is called Etebe Supplementary Education Project (ESEP).

Away from the usual procurement of JAMB forms to indigent students of Esit Eket and payment of tuition fees to indigent students, Mr. Iniobong Robson’s promulgation of ESEP rests on the shoulders of the fact that quality is never an accident; it is always the result of intelligent effort.

It is no news that Akwa Ibom State is rated the top five states with the highest number of public schools in Nigeria and has invested N600 million annually on WAEC for indigenes of the state.

To ensure that the free and compulsory education policy works well, the State Government is also said to provide a subvention of N100 and N300 to the schools for each pupil and student in public primary and secondary schools respectively.

But then, Hon. Iniobong Robson has discovered that this feat is yet to be enough to efficiently maintain infrastructure and supply competent teachers to the whooping number of students in the region, hence, his employment of Supplementary Education Programme (SEP) in Esit Eket to support what the state government is doing in the sector.

ESEP seeks to commence with about a hundred students across the three political zones of Esit Eket in public secondary and primary schools for abridged complementary classes to fill in a quality gap.

The ESEP is targeted at primary six pupils, Junior Secondary one and three, Senior Secondary one and three across the three political zones in the region. Also, the ESEP project hopes to train and get ready for 2020 CBT exams 150 students from the area with a benchmark minimum of 230 JAMB score points.

Career counseling, leadership/community volunteering talks, a fight against cultism and excursions would also form the nucleus part of the ESEP project. As a starting point, works on fixing up ICT centres across the three political zones in Esit Eket had long begun.

ESEP is one of the indelible works of Hon. Iniobong Robson, the Executive Chairman of Esit Eket Local Government Area and I am proud to bring to you the balanced story of a man who is achieving this amazing feat for his people at the grass-root level.

Mr. Iniobong Robson’s thoughts on supplementing qualitative education for the Esit Eket pupils and students aligns with John F. Kennedy’s assertion, when he opined that:

“Let us think of quality education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone and greater strength for our nation”.
