Base on the knowledge of my feasibility studies about the business environment in Africa and beyond, I bring you these five tips for the success of your business in this century. Note that these tips work perfectly for existing business.

1. Reexamine your Plans and be flexible with it: Every hitherto business plans must be prone to reassessment and evaluation. Your plans should be your calendar and you must not be rigid about it. Try to adjust it depending on situations and conditions of the business environment you find yourself.

2. Be Valuable to your Clients: There are many ways you can be valuable to your customers. Make sure you keep off your ego and listen to their complaints. Understand there needs and give them quality products or services at all times. Having a good customer relation is the only way to keep your customers and thus they become loyal to you. On the long run, making you valuable.

3. Have a good management of Skill: This will enable you to keep track of the 3ms– Money, Men and Material resources of your organization, and thus utilize them for productivity and profitability.

4. Always Make your employees Happy: I borrowed this idea from the utilitarian school of thought who believe that the success of every business lies in the happiness of the workers. Pay them on time, look after their condition of service and respect them. When they are happy, they will work with all enthusiasm and be zealous to achieve result. Don’t forget that team work is very vital here.

5. Marry the Internet: It suffice to say that no business can survive in this 21st century without a good utilization of internet tools. The internet is the largest avenue to globalize your business and have contact with millions of customers. This should be added to your plan and if you’re feeble about computer, please employ and expert to manage your E-business. This will lead to business growth and expansion. I would have mention the sixth point to be “diversification of business”. Maybe I’ll explain this later.
