Twenty students acriss the three Senatorial districts of Osun State have qualified for the second of essay competition organized by the National Association of Osun State Students.

The contest, which initially was subscribed to by over 130 students across all local governments areas of the state, was designed to give scholarships to best five students.

According to a statement signed by the President of the Association, Teslim Salahudeen and the Publicity Secretary, Babawale Popoola, which was obtained by InsightMedia in Osogbo, the next stage of the contest will hold on Saturday, September 12 at Osogbo High School, Osogbo.

The students body said the next stage will be an impromptu contest where a topic will be given to participants at the venue.

The statement partly read, “The twenty (20) writers shortlists are unveiled by the judges through a grading system based on but not limited to compliance with the five hundred words required, plagiarism/originality, creativity, coherence and mechanical accuracy.

“They contain through the rigour of their imagination and the care of their prose more than just a glimpse into the complicated emotional, political, and social fabric of their character lives’ as the Governor of the state.

“The politics and aesthetics of gender, development and corruption were a constant presence throughout many of the essays submitted, particularly those on our shortlist. These remarkable narratives are proof that indeed Osun is raising new voices as exceptional breed of leaders who will influence more prosperity and the society we desire.

“The shortlisted writers for the 1st stage of the 2020 NAOSS ESSAY COMPETITION are:

“Be informed that the above participants are qualified candidates for the next stage, which is a physical impromptu essay writing. The event will be held on Saturday, 12th of September 2020 at Osogbo Grammer School Hall by 9:00 in the morning. Where five (5) participants will make it to the grand finale and conferment of award ceremony which is scheduled for 19th of September 2020.
