Parents, Teachers and other observers in Osun State have praised Governor Gboyega Oyetola over the reversal to old school uniforms by basic schools students.

Our correspondent in Osogbo, Ilesha, Ede and Ilobu gathered that students on Monday and Tuesday put on their unique school uniforms.

Parents who spoke with our Correspondents commended the governor, stating that the gesture has brought back the memories and uniqueness of each schools. They said the move will also boost the confidence of students in public schools.

According to Mr Oladele Peter, the state governor has shown that the people’s will can come to pass.

“With this, students’ morale will be boosted as uniqueness of schools has returned. We believe this gesture will also transform into better academic performance. We appreciate the governor for this gesture. This means the will of the people can come to pass.”

Teachers also commended the governor, stating that the measure will not only boost the students’ morale but will also reduce crimes committed by secondary school students which according to them has been difficult to address due to same school uniform regime.

Some fabric marketers at the popular Igbona market in Osogbo also attested to the increase in sales as result of the reversal. They said parents have trooped to them to get new school uniforms for their wards.

“Our sales has increased tremendously. We now concentrate on school uniforms as parents have been coming to buy from us here since last week. When last did we do this? Almost eight years ago. This is really good and we appreciate our Governor. We pray to God to continue to bless him. We’re grateful to him.”
