Away from the Lekki Tollgate protest and the subsequent arrests of protesters by police, Nigerians on Twitter are also asking for an end to the alleged killing of northerners in the southern ers.
The hashtag, which has garnered over 30, 000 tweets on Twitter see users of the platform calling for a de-escalation of tension in Oyo State.
Twitter user, DJ Abba tweeted; “Stop killing northern Nigerians in the South, your problem is my problem and vice versa, There’s no any other way around it, the sooner we realize that we’re one Nigeria the better. I hope and pray for peace in my country #StopKillingNortherners.
Popular Twitter personality, Sarki (@waspapping) tweeted, “Yoruba people need to call their people in Oyo State to order. Ethnic cleansing of Hausa people in that state does no one good. Call them to order before it escalates further #StopKillingNortherners.
“In north, you’ll see southerners marketing, living a peaceful life and owing a land without any threatened. This is pissing me off. Who did we offend for not getting the same from southerners too! I presume it’s just bigotry. This should be enough #StopKillingNortherners, “ Moh Ameen tweeted.
