President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The duo received the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday at the New Banquet hall, Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Earlier at the Banquet hall, the Minister of health, Dr Osagie Ehanire thanked the President for always supporting the health sector in meeting its challenges.

Osagie lauded Buhari for deciding to take the vaccine publicly, adding that the move would help to convince Nigerians on the effectiveness of the vaccine.

It was reported that the President, Osinbajo and other top government officials were scheduled to take the vaccine on Live Television on Saturday.

Also, all governors in the 36 States in Nigeria will be vaccinated on Wednesday March 10.

Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib, disclosed this at the second edition of State House weekly briefing.

Meanwhile, as at March 6, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases stands at 158,042, with 1,954 deaths, while no fewer than 137,025 patients have been successfully treated and discharged. (DAILY POST)
