The Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru has been killed in a plane crash in Kaduna, Peoples Gazette reports.
It was gathered that Attahiru was killed alongside top military chiefs who were the same flight with him.
Attahiru was appointed chief of army staff on January 26, succeeding Tukur Buratai. He was 54.
It was gathered that the air crash occured in Kaduna around 6pm on Friday.
The cause of the crash has not been revealed as at the time of filing this report. Sources however disclosed that the presidency has been briefed about the development.
Though, there has not been any official statement from the Armed Forces, eyewitnesses suspected the crew lost control of the aircraft due to sudden change of whether before the evening rain in Kaduna.
