Engr. Olufemi Akosile has congratulated Nigerians on this year’s Democracy Day.

Akosile, who is a House of Representatives Aspirant in Ijesa North Federal Constituency, in a statement on Saturday said the remembrance of June 12 election will always call for sober reflection.

He said the “fact that the election remains the freest, most credible and most transparent election in the history of Nigeria is an attestation to the fact that Nigeria is still working to get things back on track after several years”.

“What calls for sober reflection is the annulment of the election by the then military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd). How could we explain that the best was rejected?” The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain queried.

While calling on Nigerians to be optimistic of better days, Akosile urged everyone to ensure they use whatever they have to defend democratic norms in Nigeria, stating that the unity of Nigeria “is crucial to our development”.

“We must all be united and face challenges confronting us.”
