President Muhammadu Buhari was reportedly nominated by Nigeria’s nemesis, Boko Haram, as their negotiator during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to a National daily, The Punch, Senate minority leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, speaking in Enugu on Monday at the inauguration of the Igbonine Organisation, a group advocating a president from the South-East, divulged the information.
The daily quotes Abaribe as saying, “let no one say to us, because of the insecurity in the South-East, the Igbo cannot be president of Nigeria in 2023. Was there no trouble in the North-West when Buhari was elected president? In fact, Buhari was nominated by Boko Haram during President Goodluck Jonathan’s presidency as their negotiator.”

The unverified comments will be shocking to Nigerians as the president promised to vigorously fight the insurgents, and since coming to power has not relented.
The senator was however stressing the fact that the South-East deserve a shot at the number one seat, and should not be denied under the guise of insecurity.
He insisted that the region will not bow to pressure from any quarters in its quest to gain equity in the Nigerian State.
To express his seriousness, he warned the two major political parties in the country, the leading All Progressive Congress (APC) and the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) not to dare deny the South-East zone their Presidential ticket.
