Lawmaker representing Ayedaade, Irewole and Isokan federal constituency, Hon. Taiwo Olukemi Oluga has asked the Adeleke family to allow Ademola Adeleke run the Adeleke University for a year before bringing him for governorship.
Oluga said this on Monday during the 3rd edition of Osun Online Media Practitioners Association Media Parley held in Osogbo, the State capital.
The lawmaker debunked the insinuations that incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola is rubbishing the legacies of his predecessor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. She said the crisis is worsened by the “selfish interest” of some of the followers.
According to her, former Governor Aregbesola has in past described Oyetola as a “highly cerebral” man, asking why would he (Aregbesola) be working against his successor.
Oluga said, “why would Osun people bring someone who despite having everything at his disposal but got his O’level result at close to 60. What would Osun youths emulate from a man like Ademola Adeleke? Maybe when he’s allowed to run Adeleke University for four years or even a year then, he can come and say he wants to become a Governor.
“God forbid when Adeleke, who despite having everything in failed to get proper education? Osun people are elites and well read and will never think of having a governor like Ademola.”
On the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Oluga described the issue as a mere “in-house disagreement”, declaring that it would be resolved soon.
“Aregbesola is the architect of the modern Osun, no doubt. But I believe the selfish interest of some individuals who thought they should be made commissioners, special advisers or director-generals that is fueling the crisis. Let me say that all of us can’t be commissioners or SA at at time. It’s one after the other. But I appeal to them to sheath their swords and face the task of moving Osun forward.”
The Lawmaker also explained to that the APC caucus in the National Assembly met with the governor and his predecessor twice each in 2020 to forestall the ongoing squabbles in the party.
“After meeting them (Oyetola and Aregbesola) twice each, we drove down to Ila-Orangun to meet our father, Chief Bisi Akande on the issue. But we believe it will br resolved soon.”
She declared Aregbesola as God-sent messenger to her, stating that she got into limelight during Aregbesola.
