As jostling for the next Olufon of Ifon-Orolu Kingdom is getting hotter, one of the leading aspirants, Prince Jide Akinyooye on Tuesday met with the Kingmakers of the town to declare his intention for the vacant stool.

Akinyooye, who is a Chartered Accountant, met with the chiefs at the yard of Eesa of Ifon-Orolu Kingdom and Head of kingmakers, Chief Babatunde Oyetunji.

Prince Jide Akinyooye was accompanied to the meeting by his teeming supporters, friends, family members, sons and daughters of Olaojo Ruling House amidst fanfare and optimism.

Speaking with insight Links TV; Prince Jide, who is the immediate past Publicity Secretary of Ifon-Orolu Descendants Union, said his past experience has set him to the people of Ifon-Orolu.

He said his past experience gathered while serving the people of Ifon-Orolu for years, has equipped him or has positioned him at advantage as the next Olufon Of ifon.

The Prince, who hailed from Olaojo Ruling House, added that he has come out to declare intention to the kingmakers and tell them what he has to offer the people of Ifon-Orolu, if chosen as next monarch.

“Since 1999, I have started serving this Kingdom and that is what I have did throughout the era of late Oba Osatoyinbo. The same thing continued doing the reign of the immediate past Oba Almaroof Olumoyero so now becoming the 35th Olufon. My previous engagement prepared me to shoot higher and I’m ready to serve diligently.

Also speaking, Prince Mukhail Akinyooye who represented the family of Chief Yusuf Akinyooye, said the family is ready to work with the Kingmakers towards the successful enthronement of their son. He added that Akinyooye is the most qualified candidate to sit on the vacant seat of Olufon because of his past experience and service to the people of the Kingdom.

“We believe that he remain most capable and competent person to occupy the vacant stool in Ifon-Orolu Kingdom. We’re ready to work with the Kingmakers to ensure that he is successfully enthroned as the next Olufon.

“The family of Olaojo Ruling House are the next in line, and we believe that the chiefs will do all their best to ensure there is fairness in the selection process.”

  1. The late Olufon of Ifon-Orolu, Oba Abdulmaroof Adekunle Olumoyero joined his ancestors in April this year and the stool has been vacant since then.
