Uyo State Constituency over the years, has enjoyed relative peace. It has remained one of the most coordinated and organized constituencies in the state with respect for rule of law and constituted authority. But of late, the once peaceful constituency is gradually slipping into anarchy, where the seedlings of rancour and acrimony is bred.
One thing I have come to discover in life is that Satan hates peace. That was why he transformed itself into a serpent and deceived Eve. That was the beginning of war in the Once peaceful Garden of Eden. And God, who hates confusion drove Adam and Eve out of the garden.
What is happening in Uyo state constituency now, if not treated immediately, will spread like cancer.
Like the serpent in the biblical story, a man who is known for politics of hand-lifting has subtly planted a seed of discord and confusion, through his unguarded and deceptive hand-lifting of aspirants vying for Uyo state constituency seat in next year’s election.
One Hon. Michael Enyong, House of Reps member representing Uyo Federal Constituency is the man behind the confusion hovering in the Constituency. Like a masquerade that dances naked at the market square, Hon. Michael Enyong feels he can deceive the people and scheme his way out, this time around. Despites his under performance and betrayal of the mandate Uyo people gave to him, he is going about lifting people’s hands and causing confusion. And I ask, Who made him a kingmaker in Uyo state constituency?
First, he endorsed Mr. Anietie Eka for Uyo state constituency, which prompted the man to start consultation within the length and breadth of the state. He was happily accepted by the people, particularly as the zoning arrangement favours Etoi clan where Anietie Eka comes from. But today, the unstable Hon. Michael Enyong has dumped Mr. Eka for another victim of his deceit and betrayal.
I am not in anyway against anyone contesting and recontesting, as I strongly believe that power belongs to God, and He gives it to whomsoever He chooses. But a situation where one suddenly turns himself into a demigod, lifting people’s hands in every joint, is annoying and damaging.
I am very much aware that Ibesikpo Asutan should produce the next Federal House Member, just as Hon. Enyong is aware of. But because of his desperation for second term, he has ignored the fact on ground and zoning arrangement.
It is high time Hon. Michael Enyong is called to order by Stakeholders in Uyo constituency before he destroys the hard-earned peace in the constituency.
He should focus on his campaign for his reelection, and allow others do theirs. A servant who is looking for help has suddenly turned to a master, giving directives and deciding who contests or not contest. Wonders shall never end.
People in Uyo constituency are wise, they should not be deceived by the scheming of Michael Enyong.
Enough of this deceit, betrayal, scheming, manipulation and falsehood. Let the ideals of politicking in a democratic setting be adopted.
This is the first warning. Hon. Michael Enyong should respect himself.
