On Friday, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retired), expressed his condolences to the former Inspector General of Police, Mustapha Balogun’s family, friends, and colleagues.

Balogun, he claimed, spent the majority of his life serving the Nigeria Police Force, an organization with which he also shared grief.

A statement titled “President Buhari mourns former IGP, Tafa Balogun” and signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, contains Buhari’s condolences.

The President recalls that Tafa Balogun, during his tenure as IGP, did his utmost to ensure that the police performed its legal duties under a democratic dispensation, and his penchant for boosting the morale of officers and men in the Force has been acknowledged by those who served under him,” Adesina said.

“President Buhari’s thoughts are with the Osun State government, family, and people, coworkers and previous coworkers of the late police chief”

Therefore, he prayed for the deceased’s soul to experience a peaceful rest.
