The Representatives of Orolu Community have continued moves to ensure that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, yields the call to unsuppress Orolu State Constituency.
Representatives of the community met with Senator representing Osun Central District, Dr. Ajibola Basiru (SRJ) in Abuja on Friday at his office in Abuja to discuss various issues relating to the realization of the Constituency.
The community wants the lawmaker to use his office to ensure INEC obeys a subsisting court order that recognises the Orolu State Constituency.
The delegation hinted the Senator that a political party has fielded candidate in consonance with the subsisting Court Judgement that has not been set aside. He was also briefed about error made by the INEC by omiting Orolu State Constituency as further suppression of already restored Constituency by court.
Reacting to the representatives, Basiru commended Ifon-Orolu Progressives Union for commitment and dedication to development of Orolu Kingdom, which is part of his Constituency, while decrying the carefree attitudes of political actors.
Basiru regretted the seeming delay in bringing the issue to his attention. Nevertheless, he vowed to ensure that INEC respect the judgement of the Court by restoring Orolu State Constituency.
He requested the IPU to formally notify his office on Monday on Orolu Community demands. He explained that such move will enable him take necessary appropriate steps through Senate Committee on INEC.
The Orolu Delegation promised to forward every request to his office latest by next Monday, 17th October, 2022.
