My dear, Get it right!. No public speaker will vow to never have experience stage fright before. Just that our reactions to situation are different.
Once a time, I remembered being given this topic “political hanky Panky”.
To be factual, I spent three days digging around for relative word as the Oyinbo was too big for me. Then I was to represent my LG in that debating concert. That was the birthing of my self confidence anyways. I was used to asking people for help.I tried asking older people what they can say or point they can give on that topic. Nobody really give me a satiable result. Then, I sat down and browse. I realised the word is a borrowed one. Then I put it in the simplest of my language and started writing as usual. For good two midnight I worked on it and myself. And in the day, I worked on judges because in that situation I was to go against the government who were also the invited judges. You know one has to be very careful!
I did the debate and all that but my point is I have been a debater before then but I really hadn’t been feeling myself until that point in time when I had to do it alone. And the fact that I did it without help gave me the best feeling in the world. The comments I got from Mr. Mayowa Ajayi, the CEO August TV who was the anchor of the day program was superb. It was surprising to receive calls from great people like him that day. I received comments like “you perform excellently well”.
When I first heard this, what came to mind was ‘I ain’t doing theater nah, which one is performing?
Smiles…!
You wouldn’t believe I lost to opponent with 1 point but it was more than winning for me because the confidence was rebirth at that moment.
My dear, sometimes what you need is an avenue to feel yourself. When you feel yourself, you know what you are capable of doing. And trust me what you know will make you known.
Guess what, when I wanted to purchase my phone two years ago, I saw a man at the place and was like I know you girl. I replied” sir, I don’t think I have seen this face before. He said you did so so so (Peak Focus Initiatives Debate) competition, didn’t you?
Alas! He was the teacher who brought some candidate we chased away during the first round. We chatted and chatted till day run out. My sister was like “it is bad to go out with a celebrity. Smiles, I aiint really one yet.
But I will see myself as one if you can get up and take a walk with me. Birth that potential in you, live for yourself and Win. Even if the world is seeing you as loser because you chose to do it your way, be bother less about them and face that direction. Let them keep talking to your back as you keep facing the future.
Love you Big!
