Police in Osun State have paraded four suspects arrested in connection with burglary and stealing. The suspects, Akinlabi Akinbowale, Taiwo Osunwusi, Amos Oyewale, and Zaiyan Umar were apprehended in Ile-Ife by police.
The suspects were paraded at the Osun State Police Command on Tuesday, in Osogbo. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Opalola Yemisi, she said the suspects were arrested based on intelligence received by the police.
Opalola revealed that “on January 28th, 2023, the police received information about a rise in the shop and house-breaking cases in Ile-Ife and its surroundings. The prompt response unit of the police then intensified their surveillance in the area and eventually arrested Akinlabi Akinbowale, who was found to specialize in breaking into shops in Ile-Ife. During the arrest, the police also found Taiwo Osunwusi with him and suspected that he was part of the criminal network.
“Further investigations revealed that Amos Oyewale has a history of breaking into houses, particularly in Moro town, where he was known to steal clothes and slippers. The police also recovered several items from the suspects including an Infinix Hot 10 and iPhone 6, a standing fan, a digger, jean trousers, and a pair of slippers.
“The suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged in court after the completion of investigations.
“The police have urged residents of Ile-Ife to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their vicinity to the police.
“This latest police operation serves as a reminder to the public of the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents in Ile-Ife and its environs.”
