The All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, has requested that President Muhammadu Buhari adheres to the Supreme Court’s interim injunction aimed at alleviating the country’s financial difficulties.
The party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, along with the Progressive Governors’ Forum, endorsed this position. APC’s National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, stated that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, should address the situation.
Several APC governors, alongside deputy governors, attended the meeting, calling on President Buhari to intervene in resolving issues causing economic difficulties. In a message sent from Ethiopia, President Buhari appealed for further patience from Nigerians, acknowledging that some government policies intended to improve the country had caused hardship.
A faculty member of the Lagos Business School, Prof. Bongo Adi, suggested that the Central Bank of Nigeria should concentrate on bringing vulnerable people into the digital payment system rather than focusing on the naira policy.
Five days after President Buhari approved the recirculation of old N200 notes, deposit money banks have not received any supply of the denomination for payout to customers.
