As part of its resolve to ensure inclusiveness of youths and students in governance, the Osogbo National Students Union, ONSU, on Sunday held a multi-stakeholders dialogue with candidates seeking to represent different constituencies across different party lines.
The engagement, which has Senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates from five political Parties, had in attendance several artisan groups within the State capital.
Speaking on the motive of the programme, President of ONSU, Waliu Taofik said the association deemed it fit to question the agenda of prospective lawmakers who are are indigenes of Osogbo in order to prepare ground for accountability and inclusivity of the young persons.
Taofik, who is a former President of Students Union, University of Ilorin, added that the event also seek to unify candidates across party lines in a bid to avoid crisis before, during and after the elections.
“The programme is actually organised to unify Osogbo and to bring all the candidates of Osogbo together for the purpose of love and peace. ONSU seeks to unify Osogbo politicians to avoid bad blood after the elections and for all stakeholders to see who has the best for Osogbo and its people. This is why we have packaged this together.”
Toafik added the students body will continue to remain watchdog and to call every office holder from Osogbo to account.
Present at the event are senatorial candidate of Labour Party, Bode Babalola; House of Representatives candidates of LP, SDP and ADC; Oladimeji Idowu, Bolaji Oyekanmi and Adewale Adewumi respectively.
Others are House of Assembly candidates of APC, Olorunda State Constituency, Kunle Akande and LP, Osogbo State Constituency, Mustapha Muyideen.
They all took turns to explain what they have for the electorates in both Osogbo and Olorunda local government areas.
