Former Kano State Governor and New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa-Kwankwaso, has promised to reverse the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) naira redesign policy if elected as president in the upcoming election. He made the promise during a rally in Funtua, Katsina State, where he addressed thousands of NNPP supporters.
In his speech, Kwankwaso said that the policy would further impoverish Nigerians, and he would allow those with old 200, 500, and 1000 naira notes to deposit them in the bank. He argued that implementing the policy in a country with a large number of poor citizens and a struggling economy could lead to a crisis.
He further promised to tackle insecurity and poverty and create jobs for unemployed youths. He also pledged to revamp the nation’s educational sector and recruit more security personnel to address the upsurge of insecurity.
The NNPP presidential candidate stated that his party has the political will to end insecurity and rebuild the country’s economy. He also called on Nigerians, especially those in Katsina State and other northern states, to vote for him and other NNPP candidates in the forthcoming general election.
The Katsina State NNPP gubernatorial candidate, Nura Khali, also urged Nigerians to vote for the party’s candidates in the election. The NNPP’s campaign promises center around providing good governance, restoring peace, and improving the country’s economy.
