Over the past four years, First Bank of Nigeria Limited has paid N56 billion in commissions to Firstmonie agents. In celebration of International Women’s Day, which is scheduled for next week, the bank has dedicated the month of March to honoring women worldwide. The First Women Network (FWN), an initiative aimed at addressing the gender gap and increasing women’s participation within the organization, will kick off the celebrations with a Mentoring, Coaching, and Sponsorship Pillar Webinar today.

On March 8, 2023, the bank will join the global community in observing International Women’s Day 2023, with the theme “Embrace Equity.” As a member of UN Women, FirstBank employs the Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Gender Gap Analysis Tool to assess its performance and provide progress reports that feed into the WEP’s performance indicators. The bank has a female-to-male employee ratio of about 39%:61% and 32% women in management, consistent with the WEPs – Equal Opportunity, Inclusion, and Nondiscrimination.

In line with its commitment to gender equality, FirstBank is partnering with UN Women on March 15, 2023, to showcase young women and men between the ages of 18-35 in Nigeria who are using technological innovations and tools to promote gender equality, women’s empowerment, and inclusion. This is in line with the UN International Women’s Day theme for 2023, which is “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.” The conversation on “Embrace Equity” and “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality” will continue on Twitter Spaces, with notable speakers, including Foluso Gbadamosi, the Executive Director of Junior Achievement Nigeria
