Beneficiaries of a five-day training workshop for maths teachers in Osogbo Federal Constituency have commended the lawmaker representing the territory in the National Assembly, Hon. Olubukola Oyewo, for facilitating the programme.
Speaking on the final day of the capacity building exercise organized in collaboration with the National Mathematical Center, Abuja(NMC), one of the participants drawn from Orolu Local Government Area and mathematics teacher from one of the public schools in Ifon-Osun, Mr Jimoh Salam, praised the legislator for prioritizing the development of teachers and students in his domain.
The beneficiary noted that the workshop held in Abuja from the 22nd to 26th March 2023 has further exposed him to an array of modern and effective approaches to teaching mathematics.
A host of other teachers, who took part in the advanced and comprehensive training for mathematics instructors, praised Hon. Oyewo for working assiduously to improve the performance of students in schools across Osogbo Federal Constituency.
Speaking on the expected outcome of the programme, Hon. Olubukola Oyewo urged the participants to justify their selection for the training, noting that teachers’ professional and innovative teaching methodologies make a good and competent instructor.
“The need for mathematics teachers to be equipped with the techniques and strategies of handling teaching and learning has become imperative to improve the performance of students in Osogbo, Olorunda, Irepodun and Orolu. The training and re-training of teachers will help build their capacity and expose them to techniques that make the learning of maths enjoyable and interesting to students,” he said.
The parliamentarian vowed to keep providing teachers in his territory with the necessary support needed to improve their teaching skills.
Since his inauguration into the House of Representatives, Hon. Oyewo has continued to implement several student-oriented programs in a bid to enhance the quality of teaching and learning activities in public schools.
In addition to sponsoring essay competitions and providing material support to student associations, the APC chieftain has also facilitated the construction of several ultramodern classroom blocks. These classroom blocks have also come with state-of-art learning amenities such as chairs and desks.
