Gunmen have kidnapped Daniel Ogoshi, the driver of the Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, The PUNCH learnt.

Our correspondent gathered that the driver was abducted from the residence of his friend around 9:30 pm, at Ombi 2, College of Agriculture, Kwandere Road, Lafia, the state capital, on Tuesday.

His phone and car were left behind by the bandits.

A family friend of the victim, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said it was unfortunate, noting that he received a call around 9pm that his brother had been taken away by the kidnappers.

Our correspondent gathered that kidnapping had been prevalent in the state and top government officials had not been spared.

It would be recalled that a former deputy governor of the state, Prof. Onje Gye-Wado, was recently kidnapped and released after a ransom of about N4m was paid to his abductors.

The media officer to the deputy governor, Chris Ehima, confirmed the incident, saying that he was informed about the situation but did not have adequate information on what had transpired.

Ehima expressed shock over the incident, stating that the state government would do everything possible to secure the release of the kidnapped driver.

Also, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ramhan Nansel, while confirming the incident said the police were on top of the matter.
