The House of Assembly candidate of the Social Democratic Party in Owo state constituency 2 of Ondo State, Chief Awosusi George Abbey Obayoriade has revealed that his main motive for being on the race to represent his constituency as to ensure that dutifully engage every individual in his constituency and also to monitor their progress.

He stated this while responding to interview questions from Jare Tiamiyu during the weekend.

Read his responses:

It’s everywhere that you’re vying for the seat of Ondo State House of Assembly, were you motivated by the NotTooYoungToRun act?

Yes and No. No because before the advent of the not too young to run law, I was already a social crusader for youths involvement in politics and as such I have had to speak at different seminars across different states….. And Yes, because when they came on board I saw more reasons to keep doing what I have long been doing and at a particular point this year I received a call from them too. So you see it’s such a complementary thing.

And for the act……it motivated me because if it had not been passed I won’t have been eligible to contest as I am below 30years

Do you think you have what it takes to represent your people?

Of course yes

What are your agenda?

My agenda is to dutifully engage our youths through sports, academics, entertainment, skill acquisition programmes, most importantly to harness and promote the talents that abound and to empower the old through collaborative investment programmes and financial and material supports. Note, we shall carefully monitor the progress of each individual.

You are following the ongoing conundrum in the ODSHA, right?

Yes.

What do you deduce? Do you believe in the action of the fleeing lawmakers?

My brother from my involvement in student unionism especially as a parliamentarian, I got to know there would always be conflicting interests and as such the superseding interest either by numbers or by executive interference would have the day and the defeated interests (group,) would cry foul, that’s the way I see it but right now I do not know either of the interests, all I can say to them is that they should allow peace reign for the interest of their constituents

You mentioned a lots of lofty projects there, but their targets are not defined. Can you clarify what you mean by each agendum?

We have local talents in the field of sports, entertainment , young inventors , brilliant students etc when we get on board we’d organise events in the form of competition for this talents to be showcased and promoted

For example, I was in my village Emure-ile training with teammates sometime last year, a young boy came with a radio set he had built all alone without any training either from a technical school or from a boss…this drew my attention from the pitch of play and I immediately opted to see his parents and I saw to his return to school reaching an agreement with the parents…..so you see there are a lot of them out there that way and as such we’d bring them all together for training and their talents won’t waste. So we’ve got programme for both educated and the non educated ones.

For the aged, I already stated that we’d empower them through collaborative effort with both public and private sectors in promoting their businesses by investing in them and granting them financial loans.

Do you think you’ll be able to do this? Considering your limits as a first timer lawmaker and financial paucity.

Of course we can, all you need is to set out your plans and make sure you don’t deviate from them.

Do you see yourself defeating the heavy political parties like APC, PDP?

Yes we can, what makes them heavy? My brother we’ve got all it takes, right now platform do not matter, people are beginning to scrutinise candidates by themselves and they know the type of representation they want.

How do you want to defeat the anointed candidate of your governor? Since he’s from your constituency

We have our templates already but I can’t let it out to the public, you know when you are in a fight with someone, if he knows your next point of attack then he knows how well to defend, but for record purpose the anointing of a candidate by Mr Governor has brought more damage to them than anticipated.

Thanks  for the response
