In a bid to make the Sexual Assault Referral Center located in Osogbo, Osun State, functional, the Sexual and Gender Based Network Cluster represented by her member in Osun State, Community Advancement Initiative for Self Reliance (CAI4SR) organised a roundtable dialogue with stakeholders.

The Executive director of CAI4SR stated that Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement (SCALE) is aimed building the capacity of CSOs to advocate and engage government to improve governance across key sectors in Nigeria

The stakeholders engagement, held in Osogbo on Monday, had in attendance officials of Ministries of Health, Justice and Women and Children Affairs, journalists, non-governmental organizations, representative of Persons with Disabilities, business community amongst others.

In her presentation, Mrs Eni Ayeni told the gathering that aim of the session was to discuss how to ensure effective use of the SARC center in Osogbo.

She said the project was put in place by the past administration but it has not been effective to the level it should be.

“Why we have invited everyone is that we want the center to be put into use. We must chart a pathway for management, sustainability and maintenance of the center. We believe everyone invited here today has a role to play and we all come together to find the lasting solution to it.”

Ayeni explained that the center has some facilities but needs more and most importantly, it needs staff that will be attending to survivors.

The session provided several recommendations.
