The Peoples Democratic Party has ratified the appointment of a former member of Lagos State House of Assembly, Alhaji Rahman Owokoniran, as the acting National Vice Chairman (South-West).
The appointment of Owokonikan, who was until now, the Zonal Secretary, PDP South-West Zone, followed the death of the former National Vice Chairman, Soji Adagunodo.
A communique at the end of the South West PDP Zonal Executive meeting which was held in Ibadan on Saturday, signed by Southwest PDP Zonal Publicity Secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati, said the appointment was “pending the election of a substantive National Vice Chairman, in accordance with the provisions of the PDP constitution”.
Atofarati stated, “The Southwest PDP commends the zeal and resilience of the PDP candidates who are currently seeking justice at the Election Petition Tribunals over their stolen mandates. We reiterate our commitment to leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice.
“We empathise with the Nigerian people and strongly condemn the directionless approach of the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government regarding the removal of fuel subsidy, without any plans or measures in place to cushion the effects,” the South-West PDP said.
InsightMedia has reported that the Osun State chapter of the PDP has on Wednesday ratified Mr Kamorudeen Ajisafe as the consensus candidate to fill the vacancy.
Ajisafe, who is presently a special adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke, was ratified after a stakeholders meeting in Osogbo.
