In a significant milestone achieved through the successful implementation of the 5-point development agenda, the Osun State Government has unveiled a series of impactful micro projects in the Irepodun and Olorunda Local Government Areas of the State.
The commissioning ceremony witnessed the inauguration of a newly renovated block of four classrooms at Isale-Imole Community Primary School in Ilobu, Irepodun LGA, as well as the unveiling of a health center and borehole projects in Sabo Odo-Eran Community, Olorunda LGA.
The projects were part of the implementation on the the Osun COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (Osun-CARES) under DLT 1.4.
The event, attended by various stakeholders, local community members, and students.
Representing the Governor, the Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, Hon. Ayobami Ganiyu, praised the Osun Community Development Agency and the Community Project Management Committee for their remarkable accomplishments.
He emphasized the positive impact these projects would have on education in the region, by fostering a conducive learning environment and promoting increased school enrollment.
Olaoluwa said, “I commend the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke for creating an enabling environment that has made these achievements possible.
“This educational project will benefit everyone in the neighborhood, enhancing school enrollment and removing barriers to effective teaching and learning, such as stress.”
The Commissioner also urged the community and school authorities to prioritize the maintenance and sustainability of the projects to ensure their long-term benefits.
Earlier in her address, Mrs Aderonke Funmi Abokede, the General Manager of the Osun Community Development Agency, echoed the need for communities to take ownership of projects in their domains. She recognized the pivotal role education plays in eliminating inequality and reducing poverty in the society.
Abokede expressed her belief that the newly rehabilitated classrooms would provide an optimal learning environment, leading to increased enrollment, improved retention rates, and enhanced academic performance for the students.
She advised the community to take responsibility for the upkeep of the school infrastructure, furniture, and equipment to ensure their continued service to the community over the years.
Abokede also emphasized the importance of maintaining the boreholes and health center for the benefit of the residents in Odo-Eran Community and neighboring areas.
Adeniyi Adebayo, representing the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget, and Development, urged the community to uphold proper maintenance practices, as this would encourage the state government to embark on more transformative initiatives in their area.
The local government representatives expressed their gratitude to the Osun State Government and the Osun Community Development Agency for enhancing their quality of life through these projects.
