No fewer than 1,000 students benefited from the third edition of educational materials distribution organised by the Majority Leader of the Osun State House of Assembly, Akogun Adewumi Kofoworola Babajide.

The multi-million naira event, which was aimed at relieving the parents and encouraging the students in Ede North State Constituency, was held at the Country Home of Late Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke in Ede on Tuesday.

Speaker of the House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun commended the lawmaker for the initiative, stating that he would also need to emulate the House Leader on the project.

Egbedun while speaking with newsmen, promised that the 8th Assembly has a lot of plans to support the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke to urgently revive the education sector in the State for the benefit of the Osun people.

The Speaker encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the materials, adding that the only reward they can give the lawmaker will be to face their studies squarely. “You all can become anything in the future. Just ensure you face your studies and I believe success will be yours.”

In his address during the event, the Sponsor of the programme described gesture as fulfillment of his campaign promises. He also thanked party leaders present at the event, describing the presence as display of “unwavering commitment to the cause of education and your belief in the boundless potential of these young minds.”

“We come together to celebrate the transformative power of education. Education is more than just a means to acquire knowledge, it is the beacon of hope, a catalyst for change and a pathway to a brighter future.

“We understand that education is not a privilege but a fundamental right of every child. It is the foundation upon which we build our hope and aspirations. It is a testament to our commitment to the betterment of our constituency and our alignment with the Five-Point Agenda of His Excellency Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, which places education at the forefront of development of our dear state.”

Babajide also advised the parents and guardians on how to make the children have a smooth ride education.

He said, “To the parents and guardians, you are the first teachers and the primary source of support. For our students, your unwavering belief in their potential and your dedication to their growth are the cornerstones upon which their success is built.

“To the students, you are the stars of today’s event, and vou are the stars of our future. Your hard work, determination, and resilience have brought you to this moment of recognition. You have already shown the world what you are capable of, and I encourage you to dream even bigger, aim even higher, and believe in your potential to achieve greatness.”

One of the beneficiaries, Adebayo Aishat from Owode-Adejuwon Grammar School expressed her happiness over the gesture.

She said, “I’m very happy with the school items given to us and also thankful to Honorable Adewumi Babajide Kofoworola. I pray he succeeds in all his endeavors.”

Adebayo said she will be rewarding the lawmaker by doing her best. “I’m going to pay him by being in my best behavior and also take my studies seriously.”

She urged the Osun State Government to reintroduce History in the secondary schools.
