Casualty figure in the road accident involving some students of the Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso, on Wednesday night has risen from three to six, as two other students, who were survivors an the driver have died in hospital.

InsightMedia has reported that three occupants of the bus travelling along along Osogbo-Ilobu-Ogbomoso road were burnt to death after their bus lost control and somersaulted.

But six other occupants were reportedly rescued by the operatives of Osun Ambulance Scheme that responded to the distress call from the scene of the accident which occurred near Ojutu Bridge, in Ilobu.

Unconfirmed reports has that the driver had hit a commercial motorcycle in Okinni and was escaping the anger of the residents of the town when the incident happened.

“Few meters from Ojutu Bridge, the driver lost control of the vehicle and the bus somersaulted and caught fire. Some people were rescued before the fire could spread, but three people were burnt to death. Operatives of O’Ambulance Scheme came around to rescue some of the victims,” Adeyanju, an Okinni resident was quoted to have said.

Confirming the death of three others, the Head of Operations of Osun Ambulance Service, Elizabeth Arowosafe, said three other victims of the accident died.

She said, “I just left UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital now. Three of those we took there survived. We have moved two others to UCH in Ibadan. One of them is still at UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital. The other three could not make it. We now have six corpses.”

In the meantime, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, has condoled with the Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Sanjo Adedoyin over the death of his son, Faith Adedoyin in the crash.

Egbedun in a statement by his Spokesperson, Olamide Tiamiyu on Thursday, said he received the news of the death of Faith with rude shock.

“I received with rude shock the news of the untimely death of Faith Adedoyin, a 500 level Accounting department of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) and a son to Oyo State Assembly Majority Leader.

“On behalf of myself, my family, and the entire Osun State 8th House of Assembly, I commiserate with Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin and the entire family. The Lord will grant you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Please, accept my condolences” he said.
