The Wife of the Former Lawmaker Senator Bashiru Ajibola, Mrs Habibat Ajibola has urged students in Ilobu to dedicate more time to self development.
She stated this at the workshop organised by the Ilobu National Student s Union for students in secondary and tertiary institutions on Saturday in Ilobu.
She said” I urge you to dedicate more time to self development, reduce the time you spend on your phone to watch trivial things like watching videos on tiktok, going from one social media platform to another”
” Let me make you understand, those people you’re watching online are making money from you watching them, so why can’t you reduce those time and dedicate it to improve yourself academically, physically, morally even in all positive aspects of your life”, she emphasised.
” If you dedicate more time to yourself, you’d see that there will be a great difference in your approach to things. There’s what we call marketing development , giving yourself to things that will improve you will make you develop interest in things you don’t know you have flair for “, she explained.
” Try to develop more time for yourself and studies, this is the only way your future can be bright and you can be what you want to be”, she encouraged
She also encouraged the students to dress in a modest ways that will portray them as students of values and morals.
Earlier in his lecture, a professor of Anthropology and Archeology, University of Ibadan, Aderemi Ajala has called for breaking of artificial gender barriers created to limit the female students.
Ajala, who was standing for his wife, Dr Kudirat, described the gender as an artificial barrier, stating that all hands must be on deck to break it.
In his address, President of the Ilobu-Asake Development Union, Pastor Olufemi Salako urged the students not to embrace illicit drugs, which he described as the greatest menace threatening the future of young ones.
Salako said the rampant usage of hard drugs among the young persons is very alarming and portends great danger to the society.
“The way young people abuse drug is very alarming to the extent that if not checked, a great number will be affected in future. In fact, the NDLEA has lost the count of number of hard drugs available.
“I urge you to shun the usage and focus on your study. No benefits can be drived from the illicit drug usage. It’s also the duty of parents to guide our children aright on this.” Salako said.
Several stakeholders also addressed the students on education, morals and how improve their inner persons and make an impact in the schools or families they come from.
Deserving members of the public were also presented with awards for their contributions to the society and particularly, their contributions to students community.
Insight Media earlier reported that Ilobu yearly Celebration commenced 4th November to 13th November. The event was attended by students across Ilobu, students from tertiary institutions.
