A phone accessories dealer, Ridwan Olawale has recounted how a man simply identified as Tony defrauded him of his hard earned money.
According to chats sighted by InsightMedia, Tony pretended to be an agent of Quick Recharge and told Olawale that the company is selling Point of Sales (POS) machine to agents.
After an agreement was reached, Olawale, who has POS terminals in Ilesa, paid a sum of N50,000 to a Jaiz Account with Wall A Recharge (0013145428).
“After I made the payment, he left and promised that the machines will be delivered the second day. The second day, I didn’t see the POS and I called him, only for him to request a delivery charge which was not part of our initial agreement. That’s when I started suspecting him as a fraudster.
“Since then, he has refused to talk to me again. He doesn’t respond to my chats nor calls and my money is with him. I’m a university graduate hustling to make ends meet and this man is still living in Ilesa.”
Olawale said he contacted the company and they denied having Tony as their agent. He shared the screenshot of the message he got from the company with InsightMedia.
When contacted by InsightMedia, Tony admitted to receiving the money from Olawale. He however declined to give details of transaction and the issues around the POS.
He however, promised this Reporter to pay the money on Monday 30th October, 2023. The promise he never kept.
All efforts to make him honour the agreement failed as he has refused to pick calls to his number (09060206349) and respond to messages on WhatsApp (07089545424) again.
